I assume there will be many posts today on the Rev. Ted Haggard’s fall.
When less isn't more
Gosh, once we get through Tuesday, it’s only two years until the next presidential election. And unless Tom Cruise throws his hat in the ring, it looks like Mitt Romney will be the candidate whose religion will get the most media attention.
He said vs. he said in Colorado Springs
The pre-election story of the day, of course, is about the stunning allegations by a former gay male escort against the Rev. Ted Haggard, president of the National Association of Evangelicals and pastor of the 14,000-member New Life Church in Colorado Springs. Haggard has stepped down from both posts, pending investigations.
Missing Mayor O'Malley's faith
The Washington Post‘s 2,300-word profile of Martin O’Malley left me in a state of confusion. As GetReligion readers know, I rather enjoy pointing out the good work of friends of this blog. That’s one of the nice things about communicating in such a personal medium.
I'm Martin Luther, and I approved this message
Minnesotan Michelle Bachmann is a Republican candidate for the U.S. House. She’s a member of a congregation affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. Media coverage of her campaign has delved into religion repeatedly but I couldn’t quite find the time to mention it here.
Hell hath no humor
The latest Newsweek reports on a theatrical breakthrough that had earlier escaped GetReligion’s attention: The Hell House phenomenon is now playing to packed-out houses at the edgy Les Freres Corbusier in Brooklyn.
Where to put that basilica update?
Guess what? The Baltimore Sun had a nice news story today about the renovation of the 200-year-old Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is about to reopen after two years and $32 million worth of work.
