Evangelicals boot Grassley over probe?

A telling story about Iowa Christian evangelicals denying a request from Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, for a spot on the state’s delegation to the 2008 GOP Convention has prompted interesting speculation in various news articles over the last week. Robert Novak was the first to suggest that evangelicals tossed Grassley overboard for leading a Senate Finance Committee investigation of televangelists followed by The Washington Times on Monday.

When one of the country’s most prominent evangelical leaders uses the word “fruitcake” to describe a leading presidential contender’s interpretation of the Constitution, you’re guaranteed to get headlines. You’re not guaranteed to get context.

Clinging to journalism doctrines

After one brief palate-cleansing look at decent stories on the same-sex marriage issue, we can now return to the mainstream media’s attack on defenders of traditional marriage. At this point, I’m not sure how inadvertent the biased stories are.

The missing Jerry Falwell (updated)

This is hardly breaking news, but the late Pastor Jerry Falwell was a really funny guy, by which I mean funny in terms of humor. Many of the obits mentioned this fact and also mentioned that a wide variety of people actually liked the man.
